Just came across this great guide, admittedly it's 45 pages long but I think it really does cover all the aspects of what you should be doing if you are considering email marketing. Worth a read :)

Read some of the article (which has been regurgitated from various others) and there's nothing new or any more useful than you would get from an email marketing company online.

Forgive me for asking this but DMA are a limited company/association so they're not actually an official body or approved by any official institution.

Wouldn't it be better to post articles and advice from say a chartered organisation rather than these people?

Like any organisation one should use them to gather knowledge, whether they be commercial or otherwise is irrelevent. The DMA does have some status as a source of best practice, and if they compile the best of the best thats fine by me.
