Credit Card Payments

I recently tried to purchase some items on the internet, but the indications on the site seemed to suggest the payment was not accepted. I called their Helpline and explained my problem. I was informed the purchase had not been made. I noticed on my Credit Card statement that the amount was debited to me. I called the bank and explained the situation. They suggested I call the supplier and have the amount re-instated to my card as the purchase had not been received. They have not responded to my letter and e-mails. What course of action now?

If it was a credit card you used then you can call your card provider and put what is called 'a dispute' on the transaction. They are then obliged to contact the seller's bank to get a refund on your behalf.
