Why is it all these agencies specialise in "high growth" businesses, pouring money into businesses that have a bit of potential. I wonder how many of these actually succeed and how much money is wasted.

It was only finalised on 1st April, and I found slightly before as my existing business advisor (previously contracted by HIE) was offered, and accepted the position of Business Gateway Regional Development Manager for Moray.
The provision of business support in Moray has been in limbo for a good couple of years, and I can't help but feel that it has had a hugely negative impact on fledgling businesses and startups. To be honest, I never found HIE particularly helpful - they may well be more supportive to others, it's just my experience I can talk about.
I am actually hopeful that switching to business gateway might actually help promote small businesses growth.
