Cartly – A new tool to compare supermarket prices & meal plan (looking for feedback before launch)

Hi everyone

I’m Sam Kelly, founder of Cartly – a new platform I’m building to help UK shoppers save money on their weekly food shop.

The concept

  • Compare prices across major UK supermarkets (Tesco, Asda, Aldi, Sainsbury’s & more)
  • Build a single basket and instantly see which store is cheapest (or split across stores to maximise savings)
  • Integrated meal planner: search recipes, add ingredients straight into your basket, and plan your week while keeping to budget
Why Cartly?
Food prices in the UK have been unpredictable over the last few years, and it’s harder than ever to know where’s cheapest week-to-week. Shoppers end up wasting time checking multiple sites or overspending without realising. Cartly aims to combine price comparison + meal planning into one simple tool.

What I’d love from this community:

  • Do you think this solves a real problem for UK shoppers?
  • Which features would make it most valuable (cheapest swaps, student budgets, weekly savings alerts, etc.)?
  • From a startup perspective, what’s the best way to validate demand before investing in full build?
Right now, we’re inviting people to register interest at cartly.uk so we can keep early supporters updated and involve them in testing.

Really appreciate any feedback, advice, or even challenges from fellow entrepreneurs here — I want to make sure this idea has strong foundations before we go further

Thanks,
Sam Kelly
