Business Internet Directory

They say "We’ve always been about getting businesses noticed on the web"

I say I've never noticed them, much less anyone who advertises with them.

I don't know that there's anything fishy as such, but I suspect there'd be much better ways of spending your internet advertising buck. Pay per click's easy enough to use yourself without paying anyone else a premium to do it.

I'd never look at this directory - I've never heard of it. It seems to me that the only online directory that's got a recogniseable name and brand is Yell.com. And that didn't really work for me, not such that it was worth paying to upgrade the free entry.

*sigh*

If all these "internet business directories" disappeared from the web, it would be a much better place.

Using various content management systems, it literally takes ten minutes to set up your own "internet business directory" web site. And a lot of people do.

Stick with an established B2B community - like, erm, Scottish Business Forums - and to the main players like Yell.

Scam.
They send out to each newly registered domain, official looking letters.
Don't waste your time reading them!

yeah what a load of trout.

honestly :)

I thought the everyman and his dog internet business directory phase was over but apparently not.

Don't even get me started on yell, they are totally useless and only intersted in selling you the ad then you can disapear of the face of the earth for al they care unless you haven't paid your invoice then they will send you a letter a day for three weeks.

I keep telling them that when they actually send me my welcome pack and the login details to amend my advert that i was supposed to have for my 6 week trial that then i will consider paying it.

Usless shower of s**ts - this weeks saying for incompetant companies by the way

Not all business directorys are the sames as the faceless organisations.
Streets local work with you so that your listings work and perform for you.

Why did that sound really glib?

No actually.
The reason i actually found this forum is because i have google alerts alerting me to these sites when a post is made relevant to the industry.
I always try to help people when it comes to advertising and also comment quite openly on issues which i believe in strongly.
On UkBF i have over 850 posts and try my best to help everybody so i appolgise if you feel it was an advert.

A proper built and marketed directory can be good if it gets good results in the engines and if it transfers PR to your site.

Very few achieve this and one of the worst is Yell. Yell totally cashed in on the name of yellow pages when transferring to the online world and overcharged for rubbish and never delivered what it should have done which is sad as they had the perfect platform to really provide a good service but decided to take the money n run instead.
