Around of golf that is...

I am considering/90% decided organising a golf event for the Springtime.

And was wandering if SBFer's would consider pulling together an SBF team?

Any golfers here?

Alison, I'll give you a hand. It can be hard work drinking on your own!!

Golf, ba humbug. Organise a real sport Gordon. Something a bit more sedentary.

I with Brian and Alison I'll be in the 19th hole.

I wouldn't have a clue where to start with golf, unless its on the Wii and i am quite good at that.

what about a ping pong match :)

What are you all like!!! You have all replied to this thread and not one of you has said yes....!! You would all rather sit in a bar, or play in front of a TV screen than do the real thing.:thumbdown:

Think of the fresh air, the nice walk and the chance to practise over the coming months at a golf range? There you are Christmas presents...golf clubs....and new year goal...learn to play golf.:laugh:

Please no more people telling me what they don't want to do...:001_tt2::001_tt2:

Do you want to organise a domino and skittle's event for you guys left in the bar? :001_huh::001_huh:

Domino's, skittles, darts, pool. Sedentary sports rule. :thumbup1: The couple of times I have tried I spent more time looking for balls and zig zagging my way across the course. I must have walked miles. I'll carry your clubs if you like?

You need to pay attention to your market research and respond to the needs of your customers, Gordon. :p

I draw the line at dominoes, though, Brian. You've been in Laurencekirk too long, I reckon.

So you lot want a virtual game of golf.....:001_unsure:

I have clubs and used to play quite regularly but I have to be honest this is something I would expect from a bank or a chamber of commerce. Very safe and a very limited market.

Tom's idea of a Wii type event is a great one and i'm sure their used to be a guy on these forums that has an actual place where you can do this on big giant screens etc. It's very different and it's very now. Reverse the concept and appeal to non-golfers and a bif fun factor.

I'm a bit of an expert on Tiger Woods on the Wii so lets get it on Tom :p

I too have some ancient golf bats ;) but have never even taken them out, not even to the back green (let alone a proper golf pitch) 'cos I'm fairly sure I'd never even be able to hit the ball let alone pot it...

I think I may well stick to getting thrown out the clubhouse for singing Seekers songs in the style of Shane McGowan...

For what it's worth Gordon I still play occasionally, although not enough over the last couple of years. I am looking for some excuses to go and play, but I don't think jumping straight into a competition would do my confidence any good! :)

There will be other golfers on here even if they are keeping themselves quiet just now, we should maybe try to organise a 'networking' round in the new year?

Regards,

Gordon
