I got a free laptop when I signed up for mobile broadband through Three. I needed the mobile broadband but the new laptop was definitely a welcome bonus - I opted for the "mini laptop" as my main one is enormous and heavy, the little one is about average paperback book size and great for carrying around, but they offer a regular sized laptop option too.

That said, it's rather expensive to go for a monthly long-term mobile broadband contract just to get the free laptop that goes with it, and I'm not sure the free laptop would be up to the spec you need, but might be worth checking out *if and only if* you need mobile broadband as well.

Hi

Thanks for the information. I am not interested in the mobile broadband I have had it before and I do not even want to go into how bad it was. . . it was a nightmare. However i am sure you are getting a good deal. Slightly too expensive to work it out that way though. The specs do not need to be that good, its just for sending out emails and being onnected to a live chat function really.. .not my main computer.

Hey GavinR - if you google 'notebooks' you'll get hit with a raft of low cost options. Most notebooks these days have pretty good specs and are as powerful, if not more powerful than many laptops out there.

If you'd prefer to get a price for fixing your laptop you could try Slorryy Computer Services - they're very good, very quick and very cheap!

toshiba are good normally i buy my laptops from lidl but as they have not had these for two years bought a toshiba laptop and it is ok

there is a security risk for netbooks as the memory is small when adding in an antivirus and firewall leaves very little memory to do anything else.

Still loving my Samsung NC10 - price point at about £300. Ideal for e-mail and browsing with outstanding battery life and very light.
